Welcome to the maiden issue of Inspire. This is a channel to celebrate our milestones and accomplishments as well as a source of inspiration to achieve our future goals. In this first issue, I sincerely congratulate the Forest Lake Team—from the Head Office Sales and Marketing Team, our Regional Park Sales Directors and Assistant Sales Directors, to our awardees being recognized during the 4th National Sales Convention: our ever reliable Dealers, Agency Managers, Unit Managers and Sales Counsellors. It was no easy feat hitting the P1.8 Billion target in 2017 and we recognize that such an achievement only comes with dedication and hard work.

Once again, congratulations to our Sales Team and we thank you for setting such a high level of excellence to live up to. I cannot pass up this opportunity to express just how much everyone in our team means to Forest Lake and how grateful we are for the passion, dedication and loyalty. I have come to hold profound respect and deep admiration for sales people who grew old with us, making Forest Lake their bread and butter. Maraming salamat sa inyo.

We have come a long way in the last 21 years. Reaching a billion two decades ago was just a dream and today it is reality. I am confident that we will hit our P2 Billion target in 2018 and I expect to see more awardees who will qualify for the Bohol trip next year as we recognize your accomplishments once more.

This year our Operations Group is highly focused on maintenance of existing parks and construction development of newly launched properties. The Memorial Services Group is also re-launching an improved interment services program across all Forest Lake Memorial Parks to ensure that we deliver our commitment of quality to our customers.

I would like to congratulate all our 229 delegates, awardees, Sales Directors and Regional Sales Directors for a very successful 2017. In a span of four years we have tripled our sales network and our awardees have jumped from 82 in 2015 to 229 this 2018! Sales have doubled from P984 Million in 2015 to P1.8 Billion in 2017. The National Sales Convention began in 2015 as a means to convene and recognize top sellers from all over the country. Back then, Forest Lake was already operating 14 memorial parks over the last 18 years and there was a conscious effort to communicate the brand as independent, dynamic and growing, while striving for 40 parks and P2B in sales. Now on its fourth run, the 2018 convention is an annual event that inspires loyalty, keeps sellers strong and intact while providing them a sense of purpose.

During this year’s convention, awardees were recognized for collectively reaching the incredible P1.8B target and were offered a trip to Thailand. While National Awardees were further privileged to join the Thailand trip, the company decided to bring the taste and experience of Thailand to those local awardees who did not qualify for the nationals through a vibrant Thai themed evening event at Bellevue Hotel Alabang, held on April 25,2018.

Forest Lake awards Janet Quitoy as Top 1 National Dealer

Before joining Forest Lake Zamboanga in 1997, Janet Quitoy was selling memorial plans and learned about the opportunity in Forest Lake through her sister. Starting as a sales consultant she worked her way up until she became an agency manager and finally a dealer. As a single mom, Janet saw that through her efforts in Forest Lake she will be able to reach her goal of giving her four kids a private school education. The challenges like working even on weekends have all been worth it. She has succeeded in giving her kids a private school education and proud of this formidable business she can now pass on to them. Her eldest has graduated from college and is currently an agency manager for Forest Lake Zamboanga while the other two are in college taking Biology and Nursing. The youngest is in 6th grade.

Here’s a Q & A to tell more of Janet’s very inspiring Forest Lake story.

Forest Lake: What made you decide to build your career through Forest Lake?

Janet: Aside from my earnings, I am happy with the people na supportive sa akin. Forest Lake has given me the chance to prove myself na I have the skills and with those skills, masaya ka na ipakita ka sa mga tao mo, ituro mo sa kanila. I consider Forest Lake as my own business kasi it’s something I can pass on my children. Ito lang yung business na continuous so pass on siya sa mga anak ko and sa formidable sales team ko.

Forest Lake: What has been the most
difficult part of this journey?

Janet: I don’t compete with anyone. I compete with my figures. Kung ano yung marka ko ngayon, kailangan kahit one point, hihigitan ko siya.

Forest Lake: What do you look forward to with Forest Lake in the future?

Janet: Expect ko syempre yung expansion natin. I will get old here. As long as may lakas ako, as long as the company trusts me, as long as the company gives me the opportunity, I will grow old here.

Forest Lake: What is your motivation to
succeed?

Janet: What motivates me aside sa kids ko, yung mga tao ko. Nandyan sila anytime naka-support sa akin, so kung ako nga may goals, sila rin. Bago ako, sila muna

Forest Lake: What tips can you offer to those aspiring to succeed in this line of work?

Janet: Sa akin ang pinaka-importante is respeto. Just do good. Kailangan mo good health. Kailangan mayroon kang lakas. Yung tao mo, cater mo yung needs nila, hindi lang yung needs mo.

Forest Lake: Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers?

Janet: Sa bumubuo ng Forest Lake, kay sir Tony na nag-interview sa akin para maging dealer, sila sir Xerez-Burgos, si ma’am Crisostomo, si Kuya Pabs, kay sir Dante, kay ma’am Chona… Salamat.

Michael Belicario Bags Title As Top 1 Cash Sales Champion

A former nursing attendant, dance instructor and choreographer, Michael Belicario travelled all the way to Japan for a choreography job. Upon returning to the Philippines in 2006, he learned that he developed a heart ailment, Sinus Bradycardia which meant he had to minimize strenuous activities. This got him thinking about his future and when his then girlfriend (now wife), a real estate agent for Landco Pacific Corporation convinced him to become a seller for Forest Lake Davao, he gave it a try. He was doubtful at the beginning because he had no experience in sales. Although he failed at first, selling to his immediately family, he got his break when his neighbor bought four lots. Learn more about Michael’s 12-year journey with Forest Lake through this Q & A.

Forest Lake: What was it like starting your
career with Forest Lake 12 years ago?

Michael: I started as a sales consultant then I became a unit manager. My task now was to manage sales consultants. I told myself, “Dito na ako macha-challenge. Baka ito na ang forte ko.” I also saw that this will earn good money.

Forest Lake: How did you achieve this status
as Top 1 Cash Sales Champion?

Michael: My strategy was to build a good relationship with my sellers. I would also guide and train my new sellers so that they have complete product knowledge. I believe the secret to effective selling is effective closing.

Forest Lake: Can you offer some advice to
encourage other sellers to succeed?

Michael: Love your job. Number one talaga yan. Magpursigi ka. Dealer ka, you must guide your agents. I also give incentives to my sellers on top of what the company gives. Tulungan mo ako, tutulungan din kita. Kung ano ang meron sa akin, ibibigay ko rin sayo. I also bond with my agents. Lumalabas kami.

Forest Lake: How did you feel when you learned that you succeeded? That you won as Top 1 Cash Sales Champion?

Michael: I felt overwhelmed. I did not expect to receive an award.

Forest Lake: What is the best or most
memorable part of this success?

Michael: Ang memorable sa akin yung first benta ko talaga. Yun ang susi ko. Yun nabentahan ko siya ng apat na lote. Nakakuha akong commission na P5,000. 15 minutes ko lang minarket sa kanya, may P5,000 na ko.

Forest Lake: Who are you dedicating this
success to?

Michael: My family and agents. Kasi yung mga kasamahan mo, mga ahente, parang pamilya ko na rin.

Forest Lake:What are you looking forward
to most?

Michael: More Forest Lake inventory.

Forest Lake: What motivates you to continue
to succeed?

Michael: My family, my agents. Our bosses, Mr. Syyap and Mr. Burgos, mababait sila. Iba ng karakter nila e. Ang motivation nila sa aming mga dealer, no one gets left behind. Kung anong makakabuti para sa mga ahente, naibibigay nila sa amin.

Join the support group and learn how to cope and live a productive life after loss

Losing a loved one is a difficult journey no one is ever prepared for. Good Grief aims to teach a basic understanding of what grief is, what to expect on the grief journey, how men, women and children grieve differently, some misconceptions about grief, and advice for self-care and moving forward.

Forest Lake has launched Cathy Babao’s Good Grief Workshops in Forest Lake Biñan Chapel. A journey towards healing, this endeavor aims to act as a support system for those who have recently lost their loved ones.

During the workshops, family members and friends learn how to live productive lives after loss, by teaching them how to face and manage grief through a series of lectures and interactive workshops. The workshops convey the importance of a support group. “You don’t need to walk alone,” Cathy emphasizes. The Good Grief Program consists of four two-hour modules. Those who complete all four modules will graduate and receive a certificate of completion.

Cathy is a grief coach, educator and journalist with a graduate degree in Family Psychology and Education from Miriam College. Trained in grief counseling at the Center for Loss and Transition in Fort Collins, Colorado, USA, Cathy has a private practice in Manila and holds grief and writing workshops. Forest Lake launches digital marketing campaign

Forest Lake goes digital by launching its digital marketing campaign during the recent National Sales Convention held in Bellevue Hotel on April 25, 2018. The company’s new brand materials were revealed for both print and digital communications. The new brand messaging includes: “A lot better,” “Grow with us,” and “Libing anywhere.”

A series of videos werealso released on social media focusing on the messages of Forest Lake Biñan as a total memorial care service provider, Forest Lake Pangasinan highlighting the parks’ accessibility and Forest Lake Davao communicating memorial parks as a worthy investment. The company’s Facebook Page has also been re-launched and its website upgraded to be aligned with Forest Lake’s aggressive digital communications campaign.

Forest Lake Biñan lot owners enjoyed a day of creative expression during the floral arrangement workshop offered by Forest Lake on March 17, 2018. At least 96 participants had fun learning how to make their own arrangements during both the morning and afternoon sessions facilitated by florist Carillon Pedron. Students of the workshop were happy to bring home their works of art.

The evening ended with the awarding of the most energetic dancer, the most energetic senior citizen dancer and the best dressed dancer.
